TEAM
The members of the team have different skills and expertise in quantitative ecology, biodiversity and geographical information systems, as well as statistical modelling. They are part of an international team of ecologist focusing the effects of urban growth and expansion on different components of biodiversity. This project is carried out in collaboration with several partners in 12 different European countries, collecting data in 16 European cities.
Federico Morelli
Principal Investigator
Federico is a quantitative ecologist, currently working as Associate Professor at the Czech University of Life Sciences (Prague, Czech Republic). He has been involved in several European projects modeling the impact of land use and climate change on the spatial distribution of biodiversity. The main focus of his research interests is macroecology, species distribution models, biodiversity spatial patterns, and bioindicators as a tool for conservation planning.
Jiri Reif
Co-Investigator
Jiří works as Associate Professor at the Institute for Environmental Studies, Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic). He aims to understand biological principles applicable in biodiversity conservation and disseminates this knowledge to students in various courses. In childhood, he lost his heart to birds who remained the most favourite study group up to now. Specifically, he focuses on bird community ecology, population ecology and speciation.
Yanina Benedetti
Researcher
Yanina is an ecologist focused on effects of land use, vegetation structure and anthropogenic disturbances on multiple components of the biodiversity, patterns of spatial distribution of wildlife and animal behaviour in a wide range of different communities from farmland to urban environments and taxa. She is currently working as researcher at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague.
Petra currently works at the Department of Applied Geoinformatics and Spatial Planning, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. Petra does research in Ecology, Environmental Science and Geoinformatics (GIS).
Petra Šímová
